Social workers advocate for client empowerment primarily to enhance the client's ability to navigate challenges. Empowerment in a social work context pertains to helping clients gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to take control of their lives and make informed decisions. This approach fosters a sense of agency, enabling clients to tackle obstacles they face and work towards achieving their goals.

When clients feel empowered, they are more likely to utilize their resources effectively and develop resilience, which is crucial for overcoming adversity. This empowerment can occur through various methods, such as education, skill-building, and support, allowing clients to find their voices and actively participate in the decision-making processes that affect their lives. Empowered clients are better equipped to advocate for themselves and pursue positive changes, leading to improved outcomes and overall well-being.
